16/05/2019 - OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises

On Thursday, May 16 the Department of International Business organized a guest lecture of dr. Rado Bohinc, from University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences.

Dr. Bohinc thoroughly introduced the context, in which Multinational Enterprises (MNE) conduct their business in multiple countries. He underlined the opportunities and risks connected to MNE business both in the host countries as well as to the MNEs themselves. As some of the MNE are tempted to neglect appropriate standards and principles of responsible business conduct, gaining undue competitive advantage (e.g. using tax havens) and not addressing the root causes of poverty and of child labour, several organizations and institutions work on regulations that would ensure the responsible business conduct of MNEs. It were the OECD guidelines that were presented during the lecture.
