Ibero-American Centre (IAC)
Information
Ibero-American Centre (IAC) at Metropolitan University Prague is a platform for research, teaching and expertise encouraging interdisciplinary examination of the Americas. Our aim is to shed light onto under-researched chapters of Central and Eastern Europe‘s engagement with the Americas, to develop innovative policy solutions through our expertise; and to enhance public understanding of Latin American culture and politics.
We at the Center approach the Southern and Northern part of the Americas as a politically, historically and socially complex area with different levels of implication in the international arena. We analyse the challenges and opportunities posed to the countries of the region by an age of unprecedented economic integration, enormous capital and labor mobility, long-standing social conflictivity, and increasing threats from illicit nonstate actors.
In addition to offering a set of Courses on Latin American Studies and its own Certificate in Iberoamerican Studies, the Centre sponsors research, organizes conferences and shares experience with policymakers as well as outstanding experts from academia, think tanks, government, and international organizations.
